Little Thatch is undergoing maintenance and will be unavailable for the 2019 season.
Little Thatch is a 17th Century cottage that’s been restored whilst retaining much of its original character. The cottage has been setup to accommodate 6 guests comfortably and is pet friendly.
The following Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made and have been written to provide transparency. We kindly ask that you take a moment to read them prior to making a Booking.
Enquirer Information Declaration
When enquiring, before we can accept a booking, please inform us of the following information;
- The total number of guests that will be staying at Little Thatch, including children.
- The ages of any children under 16.
- Any pets you wish to bring, including type of breed.
- Any special requirements you may have, for example disability requirements.
- A postal address, phone number (preferably a direct mobile number) and email address.
Our pre-arrival form
When placing a booking we will kindly ask you to fill in and return our pre-arrival form, this is a just few simple questions that will allow us to tailor the cottage to your requirements and make your stay more comfortable for example anti-allergy bedding etc.
We welcome well behaved pets but must limit their access to the ground floor of the cottage, we ask that they do not go upstairs or sleep on our guest’s beds. We have a safe and secure garden for them to play in. We ask that you clean up after them and dispose of the bio degradable bags (supplied) in the grey domestic waste bin. We will of course supply a bowl for their drinking water and one for their food. Please do not allow your dogs to eat in the bedrooms or on the rugs in the cottage.
We regret that we can only accept small to medium size pets and will limit this to 2 unless pre-arranged when you book with us. All pets are restricted to the paved areas and decking at the cottage. Please ensure that they do not sit or lay on the furniture without a protective covering. Unlike a lot of holiday cottages, we do not charge extra for pets. This is done on the understanding that our guests are responsible and tidy up after them. We do however, reserve the right to make a charge for damages caused by pets during the stay.

The property is situated in the heart of ‘Old Selsey’ in a narrow street with on street parking for two cars outside the cottage. Plenty of parking is close by on the green area diagonally opposite, or in adjacent Sunnymead Drive.
We would recommend googling ‘Seal Island Holiday Retreats, Selsey’ and selecting the maps tab. From here you can get a street view (drag the little man in bottom right hand corner over where ‘Seal Island’ is marked on the map). This will give you a better idea of its location and suitability.
Little Thatch Pricing
Quotes provided are based on the pricing tariff on our own website https://www.sealislandholidayretreats.com/ under ‘Booking Information’. Occasionally Quoting systems used on other web sites may be inaccurate, however we personally confirm correct prices by email before we take a booking.
Payments (Guests from within the UK)
Seal Island accept payment by either direct transfer or by cheque.
As bookings are accepted on a first come first serve basis we recommend placing a deposit by bank transfer, we will provide bank transfer details once we receive confirmation that a booking would like to be placed.
Cheques should be made payable to ‘Seal Island’ and please inform us if a cheque has been posted.
Payments (Guests from outside the UK)
To book Little Thatch, direct transfer is the only method we accept and we will provide full account details suitable for international payment once we receive confirmation that a booking would like to be placed.
We now carry a surcharge of £10 for international payments. This is to help offset exchange rates and international banking charges.
To confirm a booking that is more than 30 days from the requested arrival date we will require a 10% deposit, this can be paid either by bank transfer or Cheque.
Bookings are accepted on a first come first serve basis and we recommend a deposit be placed by bank transfer; we cannot guarantee a booking until a cheque is received and cleared.
For bookings where the arrival date is less than 30 days from the date of enquiry, we will require full payment to confirm the booking.
We will confirm a booking upon successful receipt of a deposit by post, using the postal address provided.
The outstanding balance on a booking can be paid at any time but no later than 1 calendar month prior to the arrival date.
For peak period bookings-
- Goodwood Festival of Speed,
- Goodwood Revival,
- Christmas and New Year
We will require full payment to confirm the booking. This is due to previous bad experiences in the past.
Refunds and cancellation
Booking Cancellation (more than 30 days from arrival date):
Should you wish to cancel a booking, please inform us immediately. A refund for any monies paid will be processed and returned, this excludes the 10% deposit, which is non-refundable.
Peak period bookings – Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Christmas and the New Year period are non-refundable.
Booking Cancellation (less than 30 days from arrival date):
No refunds will be issued on monies received if a cancellation is requested and the arrival date is less than 30 days.
